Let us introduce you to Moja. His artist name is a nickname for his actual name Umoja. Both have different meanings in Swahelli. Umoja, meaning “ unity” and Moja meaning “ the one”.  Moja is definitely the one you have to add to your playlists. He is an artist from Garden State, New Jersey with a Jamaican background. He first started getting into music back when he was in elementary school. He played in the band until high school along with singing in the choir. When moving to college, he decided that he was going to start recording and making his music.

When we asked Moja his genre of music, he would put it in the genre of alternative hip-hop. He would describe his music as raw, melodic and vibey. His most recent song, “Renegade” produced by Christian Armstrong, has that vibey feeling. Moja’s favorite song he created has yet to be released. But his current favorite released song would be “Diamond” but it is always changing. 

Being in quarantine, he has been able to use the time to help himself grow. He would say though that his biggest challenge is figuring out what’s next. He just takes it day by day. If you are stopping by his page, make sure you take a listen to “No Me Diga”. It is a song that gives you a glimpse of his style and gets you wanting to listen to more.

In the future, we can expect to see a three song mini project that will be exclusive on Soundcloud and YouTube consisting of vaporwave and hip-hop remixes. Along with a music video for his recent release, “Renegade”.
